With starting this fashion blog, I’ve heard a lot of feedback. Some that sounds like, “That won’t look the same on me” or, “I can’t pull that off”. Today I’m getting up close and personal about females and body images. First off, I AM a female. I have a mother, sisters, friends, mother-in-law, sister-in-law,cousins, aunts. I’ve heard every negative thing a woman could say about themselves, not to mention the words that come from my own mouth. We all have things we don’t like about our bodies. I hope everyone had a great Thankgiving! We celebrated early with my parents so yesterday we celebrated with Joshua’s parents. We ate way too much and Adler experienced his first time on a four wheeler. I’m in trouble because he loved it and is going to be a thrill seeker like his dad. I am most thankful for him this year and experiencing all of his firsts!
As you already know I’m in love with chokers. You can find this one from Target!
My lace pants are from Forever 21. I’ve modified them by adding maroon leggings underneath, because they only have built in shorties and are see through the rest of the way down. I wanted a more modest look.
My top is from Forever 21 as well. It is very soft and comfy! I got it on sale for $9!
Adler’s outfit is all Old Navy. You can find the checked shirt here. I loved the colorblock sweater and plan to match it with lots of different outfits. This is his first pair of skinny pants and they were so cute!
I’m obsessed with this color and gloss from MAC right now! The color is called Stone. I am wearing the liner and lipstick. The gloss is the Arianna Grande edition that they are selling right now. You can also just wear Stone as a matte without the gloss, but sometimes I like to add a little shine.
T.W.O: HALF-UP MESSY BUNS
Sometimes I just like to wear my hair different than all up or all down. That’s why I love half up buns! The best part is you can make them messy because that is the trend. I’ve heard several girls say they don’t look right with this hairstyle, but I believe ANYONE can rock this look. It’s a little different, sure, but wear your half bun with confidence and STOP second guessing. I’m sure mine looks a little weird sometimes, but guess what? I like it and I don’t care. Someone once told me people can only make you feel the way you allow them to. So if you like how something looks on you, it doesn’t matter what other people think. Fashion is a way to express yourself. If feels good to let loose every now and then.
T.H.R.E.E: OVER THE KNEE BOOTS
Suede or leather, over the knee boots are so in right now. I bought these last year and for the life of me cannot remember where the heck I bought them. For that I am sorry, but I can tell you they are not hard to find. I’m dying for a black suede pair (hint to my husband if you’re reading this) :)!
F.O.U.R: OVERSIZED SWEATERS
I’m so happy over-sized sweaters are a thing. They are comfortable, warm, and you have room to grow in them! I think it is perfect Holiday attire, because you can eat all you want and not have to see your fat rolls! This particular one is all over Instagram, so I searched high and low. A lot of places are out. I found this one at a boutique out of New Jersey called Gifted. They were seriously so nice and I received it in less than a week. You should check them out!
F.I.V.E.: LACE UP TOPS
Again, the same oversized sweater, but just wanted to point out the lace ups. This is very “in” right now and I love the look of it. You can find this sweater online at Gifted.
You guyssss! I’m soooo excited to try this cheesecake. I’m not going to lie I was a little intimidated at first because I’ve never made cheesecake before. I’ll be even more honest with you, I wasn’t sure what a springform pan was until yesterday!
I wanted to share the recipe with you in case any of you are last minute bakers like me. If you get started now, you could have it in time for Thanksgiving dinner. It took about 2 1/2 hours to prep and bake and is supposed to chill 5 hours.

Today Adler and I have A LOT to do. We are packing to go home for Thanksgiving, grocery shopping for the food we are cooking, and making a pumpkin cheesecake. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but with a 10 month old, this could take my entire day lol!
Sometimes when I’m running errands I get tired of my typical mom uniform, which consists of exercise pants and a sweatshirt. Soooo, I’m sharing a more casual look that is comfy for doing “mom things” or “wifey” things. Two styles I like right now, are layering shirts, and wearing beanies. My favorite aspect of this outfit is the beanie I found at Target for $8! I hope I’ve inspired you to stay warm, fashionable, and most importantly comfy while doing your Holiday errands!
With Black Friday approaching I know you are all thinking the same thing I am; What should I buy my husband this year? What about the kids, the in-laws, my sister, my grandmother?! It can be so overwhelming to decide sometimes, so I’m putting together some of my favorite things and some of what’s trending for you! Happy shopping and try to survive out there if you are braving the crowds!!
Today Joshua and I attended our Friendsgiving with some great people we’ve gotten acquainted with while living in Johnson City. It has taken some time for me to get used to living away from home! One thing that has helped me transition is getting to know some great people that we get to socialize with from time to time. With this being the time of year to express thanks, I’m thankful friends!
For this brunch we had breakfast casserole and deserts, so I whipped up a Honey Bun Cake. My mom is the queen at making this, so I stole her recipe. It’s easy and so so yummy.
1 box of yellow cake mix
1 c sour cream
3/4 c oil
Mix all these indlgredients together in a medium size bowl. Pour half the batter into your baking dish and set the other half to the side.
1 c brown sugar
2 TBSP cinnamon
Sprinkle half of this topping onto the batter in the dish. Add the rest of the cake batter on top of this, then sprinkle the remaining topping on the very top. Take a spoon and swirl the topping into the batter vertically and horizontally.
Bake at 325 degrees for 35-45 minutes
1 1/2 c powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 TBSP milk
Mix together and drizzle over cake while it is still warm.
Today has been eventful to say the least! Joshua is on a hunting trip, so I’m spending the weekend at my parent’s house. With a child of my own, a niece, a nephew, and a sister still in high school, there’s never time to “relax”. We are constantly going on errand runs or chasing kids. My Mother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law saved the day by keeping Adler for me. Based on the SnapChats I’ve received he’s loving the attention, and I finally have a moment of peace to blog. It’s a win win!
I took advantage of some “me time”and convinced my little sister to be my photographer. We always have fun and I’m glad we got to have a mini hang out session. She’s 100% teenager and a social butterfly, so our times together are limited.
I thought I’d share some of my favorite ways to style a flannel. This one is on repeat for me lately. I love that I can wear it so many different ways. You never feel like you are wearing the same outfit twice if you just style it differently each time (fist pump)! Dress them up or dress them down. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Go get creative with your flannels too!
It’s almost time to get in the Christmas mood, but today I’m sharing a couple of ideas for a Fall Birthday or get-together. I made these cute pumpkin party favors for Charlie’s first birthday and had to share. They are so easy, and could still be used for a Thanksgiving party.
I got the idea from Pinterest originally, but kind of made it my own with switching the materials up a little. All you need is:
- One pack of orange plastic table clothes (Mine were from Wal-Mart)
- A 9 inch baking pan
- Green duct tape (picked this up at Michaels)
- Candy of your choice
This makes around 25 pumpkins.
Trace a circle around your 9 inch baking pan onto your table cloth.
Next just place a handful of candy in the center, wrap the cut out around the candy, twist the top to secure, and hold in place with a strip of the green duct tape. Just like that you have cute little pumpkins filled with candy. Yes, it was really THAT easy. Also this is a super affordable party favor. The most expensive part was the candy, and you can be creative with that, like only using bubble gum instead of mini candy bars. Whatever fits in your budget :)!
Secondly, I’m sharing a centerpiece idea for Fall entertaining. This pumpkin centerpiece was inspired from the Cinderella party theme. However, we all took one home and used them for personal decor afterwards. I like to switch colors up and be a little different sometimes. These would be so cute if you are entertaining for the Thanksgiving Holiday. It does require a little extra work. We used:
- Light blue acrylic paint. One small bottle covered three medium pumpkins and 10 mini pumpkins.
- Glitter spray paint (again I found this at Michaels, but I’m sure Wal-Mart would have it).
- Empty food can
- Fresh flowers
Cut a small hole around the stem of the pumpkin, gut it, place the empty can in the center, add water and fresh flowers. *An important step is placing the empty food can in the center. This will hold the water to place the flowers in and preserve the life of the pumpkin. If you for-go this step it will cause the pumpkin to rot rather quickly, so I highly recommend doing this if you want your centerpiece to last a little longer!
