Long lace open front cardigan

Both my swimsuit and cover up are last year buys, but I’m linking similar lace open front cardigans here, here, and here. I actually purchased mine from this same site and am pleased with the quality. You can’t beat their prices!

Similar white whole pieces here, here, and here. This one is DKNY and has been my favorite postpartum bathing suit because of the material and functionality!

My sunglasses are from the Banana Republic outlet. I found mine at a Memorial Day sale for $10! I linked a similar pare here.

Critter Towels

Today has been a great day of vacation for the Spurlock family! Adler has been scared of the pool but after a week of visiting it, he decided he would start jumping in AND going under. Leland relaxed by the side and took notes. Mom and Dad are proud!

You can find these pottery barn bath towels here!

The Flip House

Let me start out by saying that as easy as HGTV makes it look, flipping a house is no joke! Since Joshua started into the real estate business with his brother, we have done some renovations to smaller units, but THIS, this is our first full flip baby. If you would like to test your marriage and/or relationship of any kind, then I encourage you to flip a house together. This particular project has taken about 3.5 months with a lot of lessons learned along the way. There have been laughs, there have been tears, there’s been sweat, there’s been changed minds, mistakes and corrections, hugs, joy, frustration, agreement, disagreement, and the just about any other emotion that exists. However, when it is all said and done, the hectic journey is soon forgotten and the finished product was so very worth it.

The Best Swaddle Blanket

Six weeks have come and gone with the arrival of our newest addition, Leland Drake. I’m finding that having time to blog is few and far between. I plan on trying to find more time now that I am used to a routine with two kids! I have been posting along on my Instagram stories so I still get my fix! What are some things my readers out there would like for me to blog about?! I’m not a professional by no means, but I do plan on sharing my favorite baby products I’ve discovered along the way. I’m thinking of sharing my fitness journey?! Any other ideas? Throw them my way!

Today I’m sharing with you a swaddle blanket that I LOVE! If you have Facebook, I’m sure you have seen it. I was skeptical to order something from an ad, but watched a short video tutorial and was sold. Adler loved to be swaddled, but I couldn’t find a blanket I loved to use for him. He grew out of the phase quickly. Leland, on the other hand, loves to be swaddled and might I add, he sleeps! I can’t give the blanket ALL the credit, but I know it definitely helps with a combination of other things I’ve done differently with the second child.

So, let me just say, if you are interested, and have your own new bundle of joy, or one on the way, you must purchase the newborn bundle. The bundle comes with mittens, a cap, and the blanket. You guys, the material is sooooo soft and makes for such an easy swaddle. I don’t want to ramble, so here’s a list of the high points I LOVE.

  • The fabric is truly the softest
  • The blanket is large in size so can grow with baby, even into toddler years.
  • Baby is used to being bundled up, it’s comforting to a fussy baby, swaddling is a must.
  • Mittens serve two purposes, they can’t scratch their faces AND when in public, their little hands can’t be touched by strangers.
  • The cap helps hold in heat, which again helps with sleep
  • The cap is also adorable and can be worn with a number of their outfits.
  • The stretchy material of the cap also grows with baby!

Are you sold yet?! Here’s the link to Lou Lou and Company. They have new prints weekly! I may or may not have two different sets because I loved them so much! Happy shopping mamas!

A Dinosaur Party

I’m not going to lie, being two and a half weeks out from my due date with baby #2, the last thing I have felt like doing is throwing another big party. However, I also could not deal with feeling like I was jipping my first-born of being celebrated, so I pulled myself together and decided to give him the party he deserved.

We celebrated his first birthday big (you can check out his Lumberjack Party here), so this year we kept it small with just our families. We have moved States and into a smaller house, so I debated hosting at home, but just love the intimacy of home parties. It wasn’t hard for me to decide the theme for this year’s party as Adler has developed a dinosaur obsession. He has been watching The Land Before Time movies on Netflix! That takes me back to childhood! He also has a block kit that builds a giant dinosaur. He chases me through the house with it from time to time, but I digress….

For his decorations, I found the cutest company on Pinterest! They are called The Happy Wish Company. I ordered his main decorations from them and was not disappointed! I will say, you probably want to enjoy being somewhat crafty as the Balloon Garland had to be assembled as well as the Tissue Paper Garland. It came with clear instructions and I found it rather easy, just time consuming.

I did cut some corners and ordered some of my own things from Amazon. I will post those as well. They have several other themed decorations aside from dinosaur!

Here’s a list of the decorations and a direct link to them:

Roar Silver Balloon Foil Set

Tissue Paper Tassel Garland

Balloon Garland Kit

Balloon Set

Paper Straws

Cupcake Kit

As far as the serveware goes, I ordered the plates, cups, and napkins from Amazon.

For some party fun, we decorated dinosaur sugar cookies. Here’s a link to my favorite sugar cookie recipe. Here you can find the dinosaur cookie cutters.

Every party needs a good party favor. For these cute party favors I also turned to Amazon! Here’s a list of the bags and what is inside for the guests:

Navy Striped Paper Bags

Dinosaur Lollipops

Dinosaur Stamps

Dinosaur Tattoos

I found the thank you tags here. You can download and print them on cardstock for free! I simply cut them out and punched a hole in them in order to attach them to the paper bags.

Prehistoric Punch

1 Liter Pineapple Pop

1 Liter Peach Pop

1 Liter of Ginger Ale

Scoops of Pineapple Sherbet for topping

* Freeze all of the pops to make an icy consistency!

I hope this helps you find some inspiration for your next Birthday party! Especially if you are looking for Dinosaur ideas. Adler had a great time with his family. If I wasn’t ready to have a baby, I’d want to do it all over again!

Thanks for stopping by!

XOXO

Kara

Turning Two

We are getting ready to celebrate our first-born turning TWO! This is a big year for him. He’s going to become a big brother within two weeks of his Birthday! Hopefully he handles it well…(my fingers are crossed). We are celebrating him a little early this year just in case baby brother comes sooner than expected. I am going to share all of the details of his dinosaur party soon! Until then enjoy these pictures from our little photo session!

Lenny Lemons

Cheers to a New Year! My New Years Resolution? To take more time for myself to continue blogging like I love. As I mentioned before, my pregnancy has NOT been blog friendly. I haven’t gotten to document these past few months quiet like I’ve wanted.

On another note, we brought in the New Year in Sevierville, TN this year. We go every year and either stay in a cabin or at The Wilderness with a whole lot of family! The highlight of this year’s trip? Getting to take our little man on a Jurassic BoatAdventure. He is in a huge dinosaur phase right now.

We set out with no location in mind and stumbled on this new attraction. It was snowing outside so we stayed bundled, but the boat took us on an indoor adventure. It could be scary for smaller children. Adler was too fascinated to be scared. I’d recommend going if you’re there and in need for short entertainment. It’s probably not something adults would enjoy on their own. We finished our outing at Little Tokyo Hibachi grill where Adler got to watch a hibachi chef for the first time. Our food was great! I’d highly recommend eating there. Overall, it was a good day!

I’m featuring our mom and me hats in this post from Lenny Lemons. It took us about a month to receive them in the mail only because their company ships from China. I think they were worth the wait, however, order them in advance if you are wanting a set for yourself.
